Selective Import of Metadata using Data Service


  • First we need to import the meta-data of the table i.e. the structure first and then the table data.

Steps :-

  • Double click on ECC Data Store.
  • Click on Tables.
  • Click on import object by name icon.
  • Enter table name and click on Finish.
  • Click on Save.
  • Here we can see our imported tables.
  • Go to SAP-HANA Studio.
  • Click on Window -> Click on Perspective -> click on Reset Perspective.

  • Click on " Configure Import Server ".
  • Select the System.
  • Click on Next.
  • Enter the Server Address , Repository Name and Default port.
  • Click on Finish.
  • Click on Import.
  • Expand SAP HANA Content -> Click on "Selective Import of Metadata ".
  • Click on Next.
 
  • Select the System and Click on Next.
  • Select the Source Connection ( Data Store Name ).
  • Click on Next.
  • Choose Type of Objects to Import as Tables.
  • Click on Next.
  • Enter the table Name and click on side arrow -> select the table.
  • Click on Add -> At right side we can see added table.
  • Click on Next.
  • Click on Next.
  • Click on Finish.
  • At below in Job log, we can see selective import of metadata is successfully completed.
  • Expand System.
  • Expand Catalog -> Right click on it -> click on Filters.
  • Enter the schema name -> Click on OK.
  • Expand Schema.
  • Select the Table -> Right click on it -> click on Filters.
  • Enter the table name -> click on OK.
  • Now we can see our table.
  • Select our table -> Right click on it -> click on Open Definition.
  • We can see Table definition.
  • Go to Data service Workbench.
  • Double click on Hana Data store.
  • Click on Tables.
  • Click on import object by name.
  • Enter Table name and Owner.
  • Click on Finish.
  • Here We can see our Imported table.
  • Click on Save.
  • In HANA Data store, we can see our imported Data store.
  • Double click on ECC Data store.
  • Click on tables.
  • Click on import objects by name.
  • Enter table name -> click on Finish.
  • Here we can see our imported Table.
  • Click on Save.
  • Now we can see in ECC data store,  imported table.
  • Select our Project -> click on New -> click on Data flow.
  • Enter the Data flow name and Description.
  • Click on Finish.
  • Drag and drop  table from ECC data store to Data flow work area.
  • We can see  table.
  • Now drag and drop table from HANA data store into work area.

  • Click on Import as Target.
  • We can see our HANA data store in work area.
  • Select the Query transform.
  • Drag and drop Query into work area.
  • Drag the link between Source table to Query.
  • Drag and Drop link from Query to  target table.
  • Click on Query Transform.
  • Drag and drop input schema columns to Output schema.
  • Click on save.
  • Click on validate.
  • Click on Close.

  • Click on Execute.
  • Select our Job Server and click on Finish.
  • Job executed successfully.
  • Go to SAP-HANA Studio.
  • Select the table -> Right click on table -> click on open data preview.
  • Raw data.
